I have been blessed with great “real jobs” in my life, but in November 2008 (after managing an unsuccessful political campaign), I didn’t want a “real job.”  My dream was to be able to work from home with my wife, Melane.

Melane and my mother-in-law, Jackie, had started a very part time online furniture sales company back in 2005 and I wanted to be able to make it work on a full time scale.  My wife was supportive of my efforts to expand the business, but was not sure we could take it from the part-time business it was to what we needed it to be. I agreed to keep looking for a regular job while building the furniture business. While I did get on the job websites to see what was available, my real desire was to build up the furniture business to a point that it would support both of us. Well, it’s 2014 and I never had to get a “real job.”

Except for an experiment in owning a retail store from May 2010 to April 2011, all of it was online.  In fact, after closing the store our business has grown tremendously.  One reason is we began to ship nationwide, which obviously opened the door to exponentially more customers, but also we learned about Amazon’s fulfillment service (FBA) through the Proven Amazon Course.  We now primarily focus on wholesale and private label on the product side and I have launched several books and courses about selling on Amazon.

I don’t say all of this to boast by any means.  It’s just to show you that you can have your dreams.  None of this happened overnight.  It was a lot of work, but it has been so worth it.  Since the end of 2008 I have not had a boss (well – that is except my wife  ).  We’re actually a very good team and I would not want to have it any other way.

I have friends that tell me that they would not want to work with their wife and their wife would not want to work with them.  I understand that, but it works very well for us.

As you probably know there are a myriad of ways to make money online.  We have found one that works for us, but I’m constantly learning and studying about other methods that might be a fit.  I love to help people and so I decided to start this blog as a way to encourage and motivate others that also have a dream to have their own online business.
